The College of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka is the Island's only Anaesthesia Society. Its mission is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of anaesthesia, intensive care and pain management.

The objectives of the College are formally stated in the College Constitution and collectively they aim to achieve high standards of practice in anaesthesia and intensive care in Sri Lanka.

The activities of the College naturally follow these objectives and translate into detail in the following areas:

• Training of Doctors aspiring to become qualified anaesthetists

• Continuing education and maintenance of standards of anaesthetic practice.

• Fostering anaesthesia research.

• Involvement with the community in promulgating and achieving high standards of health.

• Developing good international relationships with a view to fostering high anaesthetic standards.

The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and the Federación Argentina de Asociaciones de Anestesia, Analgesia y Reanimación (FAAAAR) proudly announce the 15th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) which will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina in March 2012.
